Liberty Bell to be at Flag Retirement Ceremony
DALLAS, TX. — June 10, 2010 — Oldwornflag.com and the Dallas Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution are proud to announce the Traveling Liberty Bell will be present at their upcoming free, public flag retirement ceremony. This patriotic event commemorates Flag Day and will be held on June 13th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Flag Pole Hill, 8100 Doran Circle, Dallas, Texas, 75238.

The Traveling Liberty Bell is the same size and weight as the original Liberty Bell. When the bell rings we hear the same sound that inspired our founding fathers as they wrote the Articles of Confederation, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution of the United States.

The dutiful and colorful event will begin with live patriotic music provided by Annie Benjamin followed by a welcome address by Dallas City Councilman Jerry Allen. The dignified ceremony will include participation from various service, veteran and civic organizations. The first 30 City of Dallas residents presenting an old, worn flag for retirement will be gifted a new U.S. flag courtesy of Betsy Ross Flag Girls, Inc.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, a live rifle volley will be presented by the Lone Star Chapter of Paralyzed Veterans of America, “Taps” will be played by Bugles Across America, a non-profit organization of buglers across the country and the Liberty Bell will proudly ring out.

The League of Women Voters of Dallas will be on site assisting citizens with voter registration. Attendees are encouraged to bring their old, worn national and/or state flags, a lawn chair, and a pair of scissors if they wish to participate in dismantling the flags before they are placed into the ceremonial fires.
